Second Person/Second Hand

Game

You’re walking through Dundee.

You’re on your lunch break.

You’re walking down the high street.

You want to buy a game.

You want to buy an Xbox 360 game.

You want to buy Splinter Cell: Conviction on the Xbox 360.

You walk into Gamestation.

You look for copies of the game.

You look again for new copies of the game.

You fail.

You ask a quite ugly shop assistant where you can buy new games.

The quite ugly shop assistant tells you that they “don’t really do new games outside of the chart and new releases”.

You make sure that he knows this practice is disgusting and leave immediately.

The shop assistant doesn’t care.

The shop assistant is still ugly.

You walk across the street to Game.

You ignore shop assistants and head to the Xbox 360 games.

You note that the selection is a little more varied but predominantly stocked with pre owned games.

You return to work without a purchase.

You buy a new copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction on the Xbox 360 from Play.com for cheaper than it would have been if it were a second hand purchase from a brick and mortar store.

You write a blog post about your dislike of retail.
